About Me

My photo
My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

52 Weeks of Happy - 12/52

Well, what can I say??? I missed a whole week of blogging. However I have a really good excuse...I was busy being a Grandma, a GodMa and a Midwife.... Yes, and I know I missed week 11 of 52 weeks of Happy but I didn't miss out on any happy things as you will see.

I could really say that all 4 of my happy things can be attributed to my 4 Scottish grandchildren. It was so lovely to see them all, the first time since Christmas. This is a picture of the youngest who was 1 last weekend. She's just decided that dressing up might be fun and thought kitchen roll made a good substitute for a hat, such a cutie. Her big brother is growing fast too and next time we go up he will be celebrating his 3rd birthday. Oh boy! where does the time go?

After visiting our Edinburgh brood we travelled on up to Perth to spend a lovely weekend with a crafting pal of mine and her hubby. It was so lovely to see them both and I even managed to make 3 cards. More of that later.

After stopping off in Fife on the way home to see our other 2 grandees, we then made a tea-time stop to visit my little God-Daughter. Isn't she just a beauty. We were greeted to huge smiles when we arrived and she just soaked up all her God-Mother cuddles.

Unfortunately we cut our visit a little short as the snow had started falling thick and fast and we needed to get home. We heard later that the road we had been on was closed due to the snow!!!

Then came my chance to play Midwife, well not literally. You may remember last year I shared some photos with you of the chicks that are incubated at my Mum's nursing home every Easter. Well, I've never seen any of them hatch, they're all yellow and fluffy by the time I get in there. However, this week there was still one waiting to appear and low and behold he/she made an entrance while I waited patiently with my camera poised. I took several photos of the process and this is the moment of delivery, overseen by big sister. Poor little thing looked absolutely exhausted.

Proof of this is in the next photo, where one of the older chicks had just fallen asleep where he fell. Look at that cute little leg.....ah!!!
So lots of happy things there to make up for missing a week but finally I have just made my first Bara Brith (Welsh fruit loaf) and if it tastes as good as it looks I may share a photo with you.

Have a good weekend and keep warm, x
