About Me
- cockney blonde
- My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

Back to the Twenties
Evening Bloggers. I've seen from trawling through the blogs that others have had the weird weather today. Brilliant sunshine this morning and then a horrendous electrical storm this afternoon, and now back to blue skies...
Anyway, I'm here to share with you my first crochet hat, twenties style. Thanks to Jo of JoZart I am really getting into this crochet malarkey and thought I would stretch myself. Made the hat yesterday evening and then completed the flower this morning.
Here is a close up of the flower. I think its really effective.
The pattern was in a Knit Today magazine by Tina Barrett. There is also a pattern for a knitted one.
I used a self-patterning DK yarn and edged it with a deep cerise DK. The same colour combo from the poncho I made a few months back for my Scottish grandee.
This is just to show you the crown. I'll defo be making more of these. So easy peasy lemon squeezy.
I've also made some more of my ear warmers which I'll save for another day.
TTFN, x

Lovely, Alison. Haven't done any crochet for a long time but Mum did a lot. I have a photo, somewhere, of me wearing a pink beret she'd just made me (I think she'd made it, anyway). It's so much faster than knitting, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteFab hat! but who's you friend? Bet she doesn't talk much??
ReplyDeleteLove Jo x
Say Hi! to Polly from me... just don't let anyone hear YOU talking to her.
