About Me

My photo
My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

It's bin one of them cards....

You know the ones....Starts off as one thing and ends up as something else...Well this was one of them.

I'd already decided that I wanted to follow the Just Magnolia sketch and I also wanted to use another of my new digi images by MelJen's designs called 'Candy Land Dreams' as I knew it was just the perfect background for Tilda sucking on her lollipop. So then I thought, mmm, a tent-fold card would look good, so off I went cutting and using nesties and oops!...forgot I was s'posed to be following a sketch and by this time I've stuck stuff down!!! So I hope that what I've ended up with has recreated the sketch.
To the left I overlaid some lace with a strip of DP and then using glossy accents attached a string of pearls. The bottom strip is another piece of DP but I utilised the flower in the design and cut around the petals, finally attaching 2 prima flowers and a pearl brad to the centre. All the DP are by DCWV.

Inside the aperture you can make out 2 chipboard swirls coloured with copic YR16, stickles, pearls and gems for bling.

Tilda has been coloured with copics: E93, 21, Promarker Satin (skin), E31, 33, 35 (hair), BG01, 05, YR12, 15 (clothes).

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

Another 50 Years...

Okey Dokey! Here's the second post for the evening and then I'm off downstairs to the TV.

In case you hadn't worked it out this is for another golden wedding being celebrated in our street next week. I've followed the sketch in the Craft Your Days Away Challenge and inserted a tag behind the image which I will write our greetings on the reverse.

The image is a Hero Arts stamp 'watercolour dahlia' which I've masked, stamped in Adirondack mushroom  and then coloured with copics: Y11, 13, 37, G21.

The image to the bottom right is a fab border image (don't know who makes it) which I've paper pieced twice using the same DP as the rest of the card which is by Prima 'sweet fairy'. Both the DP and the curly gardenia 'stop' I got from Crafty Emma's Store.
I hope you like it and the links are below, x

Brrrr.....

Brrr...this little fella looks freezing but according to Meljen's Designs he's a 'Cosy Winter Owl'. Ah bless. Perhaps his hat and scarf are keeping him warm. I was so lucky to be able to choose 4 digi images from Meljen's Designs as a challenge prize for last week's ABC 'O' for Old-Fashioned. I'll try and showcase the other 3 images asap.

Anyhow, this is the first of 2 posts this evening which I'm getting in quick before the Ice Dancing starts. I hope you've all had a good weekend.

I've coloured the little fella with copics: E93, 50, 51, 53, 31, 15, 18, C3, R24, 27, YG03 and added some stickles to the snow and his pom pom to give him some bling, lol.

The DP are by Kars 'X-mas Collection'.

80 Years Young

Evening Peeps. I had hoped to be able to blog a bit later this evening and tell you about a brill pantomime we had just been to see. However, unfortunately while we were having tea with friends beforehand, our Son took a seizure and so we had to cut our night short. He's fine now and tucked up in bed with a hot chocolate and his nursing team of 1 cat and 2 dogs, lol. The other 2 cats feel that they have better things to do....

So here is the card that I am now sharing a bit earlier than planned. I've made it on a request for a friend who wanted something flowery. Great for the current Creative Cottage challenge.

The stamp is by Tin Can Mail (Inkadinkadoo) and I've coloured it with copics in: Y21, 26, R05, 08, TG63, 67, E37. Lovely warm colours to fit in with this week's Copic Creations challenge.

The DP are by Papermania 'Sunshine' pack.

Puff, The Magic Dragon...

Happy Friday everyone. The weekend is here, well almost.

I've been dying to use this fab digi image from Digi Delights and when I saw there were some challenges this week asking for fantasy, mythical, wings, etc I thought what a brilliant time to showcase him. He was so easy to colour too with only a handful of the old favourites required. Copics used: YG00, 03, 06, RV21, 23.

The papers are my MME 'wild asparagus' as is the ribbon, which I got from Crafty Emma's Store.

The ribbon brad is from my stash. I've had it for an absolute age and have no idea where I got it from. These brads seem to get forgotten.

Anyhow, I hope you like the card and I'm entering it in the following challenges, x

Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday everyone. Its nearly the weekend, yayy!

I've made this card for one of my Son's carers. The brightly coloured shoes are just typical of him, anything quirky fits his bill.

The fab image is one of the older Sugar Nellie guys called Chef Hamish. I've coloured him with copics:-
skin - E21, 93 and Promarker Satin
clothes - B93, 95, C1, 3
shoes - BG13, 15
balloons - B93, 95, 97, C5, E27, 29

BTW. The balloons are part of a digi delights image that I dissected. Originally I had balloon brads but having slept on it I decided that it needed a bit more depth. So I got out my balloon punch and stamp and the stazon and oops!!! made a mess of it. So off came the brads, tricky once the papers were already stuck, and the new design was created. I hope I've pulled it off OK.

The DP are by MME 'Wild Asparagus', and the sentiment stamp is a Craft Stamper freebie.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges, x

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Well, that's the challenge over at Winter Wonderland this week. Of course the snow at the weekend could have meant that Christmas was back already, lol.

I thought what better way to depict Christmas than with a Christmas tree and traditional Christmas colours. The tree stamp is by Daisy and Dandelion and I've stamped in Stazon and then coloured the baubles with glitter pens, finally adding glitter to the star.

Apologies but I can't remember where the papers are from as I've had them an age. However, they are fabby quality and double sided which makes them really versatile.

I've cut the Happy Holidays sentiments out with a nestie from one of the DP sheets.

I hope I've not overdone the layout as the current Create4Fun sketch involved loads of layers.

Anyhow, hope you like it and the links are below, x

A Gift For You

Good Evening everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. Sorry I've been MIA for the last couple of days but I was out all day Sunday crafting. Had a brill time but didn't get much done, too much chatting, lol. Then yesterday just seemed to disappear.

Anyhow, I'm back this evening with a little gift bag I've made for a friend's birthday. I covered a 'snack' box with paper from K & Co 'Que Sera Sera', and edged with broderie anglais and lace. The tag has been coloured with Brilliance and stamped in Adirondack 'currant' using a swirl from Creative Expressions and the frame from Viva Decor. The curly gardenia is from Crafty Emma's Store.
The handle was made using floristry ribbon. By pulling the wires I was able to scrunch the ribbon giving the handle stability.
Of course, the obligatory Tildas were coloured with copics:
E21, 31, 33, 35, 93
G21, R00, 02
Promarkers - Satin, Antique Pink, Dusky Rose, Maroon.
I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

Crafty Cardmakers - Spotlight on Water

Woohoo!!! Just bin browsing and noticed I'd won the Crafty Cardmakers challenge of Spotlight on Water.

Hop on over to their blog for some brilliant challenges and loads of inspiration.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, x

65 years young

Howza bout that then!!! I'm still awake despite being up since goodness knows when. Well the snow eventually stopped falling at about lunchtime and it means we have about 4" now:((( The sky still looks full so I hope there isn't any more to come.

Anyhow, its given me some crafting time to make a card requested by a friend. I thought I'd go for the ever effective easel card as its for a special birthday.

The image is by Simple Expressions and I've stamped it in versafine vintage sepia. Told you I was a bit addicted to that ink pad at the moment, lol.
The DP are MME 'Wild Asparagus' as is the peachy ribbon. This ribbon, the curly gardenia (just lurve them) and the carnation buds are all from Crafty Emma's Store. The pearls are from The Hobby House.

I've created the leaves with my Martha Stewart pine punch. Everything else is from my stash.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges, x

Thank You

Good Morning Peeps and here's to a lovely weekend for you all. I'm not normally up and about at this time in the morning, especially on a Saturday, but my beloved managed to make huge announcements at 5am as he was getting up to travel to Scotland for the footie. The announcement......THERE'S AT LEAST 2" OF SNOW!!! My loving response was.....the game will probably be postponed.....Anyhow, that was enough to wake me from my slumber and with nothing better to do I thought why not catch up on blog posts and e-mails.

So...this little beauty I made yesterday evening, and I had great fun playing with the instructions for the folding frame. Easy peasy and so effective. If you want to find out more hop on over here Splitcoast Stampers

The reason for the frame was for the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge #81. I've incorporated the sketch from this week's Pixie Cottage challenge #57, used the theme of 'Thank You' from the current Crafty Creations #106 challenge and the colours from this week's Colour Create challenge #64.

The sentiment is a clear mini stamp and I've stamped it in Versafine vintage sepia. I seem to be using this alot lately.

I hope you like it and here are the links, x

Vintage Beauty

Evening Peeps. I don't about you but it's turned blooming freezing here in West Yorkshire, hope it doesn't mean that there's more snow on the way.

Anyhow, it's a good excuse to stay in the warm crafting and this is the little creation I've made this afternoon.

I've stamped the 'vintage' lady in Versafine vintage sepia onto cream CS. I'm sorry but the image was a gift and I'm not sure who makes it. I have a few like this and they are all beautiful images. I've used my nesties to frame her.

The main DP is from my stash but I've run it through the Cuttlebug 'D'Vine Swirl' embossing plate before mounting it onto my CS.

The vellum (from my stash) has gold script on it. The plaid ribbon is by 'Portafolia' and the cream ribbon is from my stash.

Pearls from The Hobby House and the curly gardenia from Crafty Emma's Store (see my sidebar).

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges :-

Friendship

Morning Peeps. Sorry I didn't get to blog yesterday but it was a busy day...work, supermarket big shop:(((, then brill nite on tv. I don't watch much tv these days as I prefer to be crafting but there are a few things that have grabbed my interest lately, and last night was no exception. Anyone else been watching 'Marchlands'??? Edge of seat or what, lol.

Anyhow, onto today's card which I'm calling Friendship. I wanted to use the current The Corrosive Challenge  sketch but have also been wanting to enter into a Sentimental Sundays Challenge since I discovered it a few weeks ago. I felt the sketch lent itself well to both challenges. Fortunately I've also been able to combine it with the current Penny Black challenge which is 'Pretty in Pink', the Paper Sundaes challenge #56 which is use 2 of either flowers, lace, distressing or pink, and also the Ooh La La Challenge #73 'For Someone Special'.

The image is by Penny Black called 'Crossing Bridges' and I've coloured him with copics:
R20, Y21, E21, 31, 40, 51, 93, G21, and the blender. I can't remember where the trail of flowers image is from.

The sentiment is by Paper Inspirations and the DP is by Papermania 'Regency'.

I was featured on the Stampsmith's Challenge

What a lovely surprise I got yesterday when I found out that my Prince Charming frog card was featured on the Stampsmith Challenge Blog.

If you want to go check it out along with details of their challenges then click on the piccie on my sidebar.

Bye for now, x

Less Is More

Oh Boy! Was this hard. I've spent so many weeks making embellished filled cards that to go back to basics for this challenge was as it says 'A Challenge'. Still, a change is as good as a rest, lol

So for the easy peasy write up to this card. I took an A6 folded cream card and stamped Hero Arts 'Aged Background' in Distress Antique Linen. I then overstamped the Crafty Individuals trees and phrase in versafine vintage sepia.

With the baby wipe I clean the background stamp I smudged round the edges of the card and then taking a cotton bud which I rolled in the versafine pad I swiped around the edges.

Couldn't decide if I needed to do any more to it so I just left it alone.

Hope you like it and the challenge link is here, x

Have a Heart

Ah! I think Tilda is desperate to give her heart to someone. Maybe by December she'll be in luck. Initially I made this card for the current Winter Wonderland challenge (another one to add to my Christmas box) which is 'To The One I Love', but I've incorporated the Friday Sketchers Challenge for this week.

I've coloured Tilda with copics as follows :-

skin - E21, 93 and Promarker Satin
hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
clothes - G21, 28, R32, 35, 37
shadows - W1, 3, 5

The DP are by Papermania 'Henbury Lane'. They are so yummy and I'm going to have to buy some more soon, lol.

The sentiment is by Simple Expressions.

I'm also entering this card in the current Daring Cardmakers challenge which is being sponsored by the ribbon reel Their challenge is to use 2 ribbons/trims, at least one button and at least 1 heart.

Also the current Cupcake Craft Challenge #129 and Oldie But A Goodie challenge #12 both want hearts added.

So, I hope you like it and here are all the challenge links below, x

Hopes, Dreams and Fantasy

Evening everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Wasn't the weather awful yesterday! Anyhow, a bit of sunshine today and everything seems so much better.

I've been playing about recently with 'map-fold' cards and this one is made using 12 x 12" cardstock. However, I have adapted one to fit on an A4 piece of card, more of that another time. My original inspiration came from a tutorial on the Whiff of Joy site. They are full of brilliant tutorials so go take a peek and learn some new skills.

So onto my card. The top picture is the front as the card is closed. I've used the current Truly Scrumptious sketch to base my design on. The doorway is from Lavinia Stamps and I've used copics to give it some colour : E40, 41, 43 and RV02 with blender. The curly gardenia flower is from Crafty Emma's Store as are the wonderful DP from a Prima pack called 'Sweet Fairy'.

This next piccie is the inside, again I've followed the Truly Scrumptious sketch for the middle section. The image is Sweet Pea, Blue Eye Fairy and I've coloured her with copics: E21, 93 Promarker Satin (skin), E50, 51, 53, 43 (hair), B02 (eyes) RV02, 06, Promarker Maroon (flowers and gems), BV02, 04 (choker and dress). I placed some skeleton leaves behind to represent her wings.
This is a close up of the lovely verse I've included. Can't remember where I got it from but I really like it.
For the purpose of this next piccie I've laid the card on its back cos when it is stood upright the centre panel automatically flops down.
So as it is now, the top panel is the reverse of the middle section with the Sweet Pea fairy on. I've edged it with a mini fairy from Crafty Indivudals, and flower sprig by Bo Bunny.
Apologies but another verse that I can't remember its origin.

I'm entering this into the following  challenges:-

It's that tree again

This time I've kept it very minimalist. Unfortunately the camera didn't like the reflection the silver card was giving off so I had to scan it and the piccie doesn't really do it justice.

I embossed the tree in silver and then used a small clear star stamp in Brilliance blue to stamp around the branches. I finished it off with 2 ribbons, the top one is printed with Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I'm entering this into the current ABC Christmas Challenge and Totally Papercrafts #53 Challenge which are both asking for Clean and Simple.

Text 4 U

Hiya. Hope you're all well today despite the return of the rain clouds. This little minx is by Digi's With Attitude! and is called Texting Tween. I've made it for my bessie friend's birthday cos we're always texting each other, that's when we're not speaking on the phone. We've know each other for over 25 years ever since I had a toddler in the buggy and another on the way.

I've used copics to colour (surprise! surprise!) as follows:-
E21, 93, 50, R22, 24, 27, 29, YG63, 67, C1, 3, 5, 7, 8, Promarker Satin and Copic 100 (black).

The DP is by Memory Box called Glitterati which I got from Crafty Emma's Store. Also the fabulously lush curly gardenia is from her store too.

I've created the 'TEXT 4 U' by using the negatives from peel-offs and sponging through them.
The Happy Birthday text I've generated from the PC and used it, along with the gardenia, to create the stop.
I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the challenges below, x

Reach For The Stars

That's the challenge being set by the Winter Wonderland team this week. I've managed to incorporate stars in the image the DP, the brads and also one of the sentiments, phew!

I'm sorry but I can't remember where the yummy DP is from as I've had it in my stash for so long. The red curly gardenia flower is from Crafty Emma's Store (see my sidebar), and the sentiments are by Creative Expressions.
I coloured Tilda with copics (no surprise there then) as follows :-
skin - E21, 93 and Promarker Satin
hair - E31, 33, 35
clothes - R22, 24, 27, 29
Its a while since I made an easel card and I don't know why I don't make them more often as they are so easy and look really effective.

Just For You

Evening Everyone. This is the first of 2 cards this evening. Both of them cheerful and hopefully will help us look towards warmer weather.

All these fabby spring colours of cardstock are from my stash, in fact everything is from my stash, lol.

I've coloured Sugar Nellie's Verity with copics:
skin - E21, 93, Promarker Satin
hair - E31, 33, 35
clothes - Y02, 06, 08, G21, 28
boots - E31, 33
shadows - W1, 3, 5 and blender

The sentiment is by Lili Of The Valley

Friendship

This was a really quick card put together with Crafty Indivduals papers that had been lying on my workspace waiting to be made into a tent fold card. When I saw them I realised they fitted perfectly with the current Play Date Cafe Colour Challenge.

I've left the card fairly plain and without embellishments so that I can also enter it into the current Charisma Cardz challenge, and finally Totally Papercrafts were asking for a 'Friendship' card.

The cute Elisabeth Bell image is coloured with copics :-
skin : E21, 93 and Promarker Satin
hair : E50, 51, 53, 31
clothes : V01, 01
This was my first attempt at really blonde hair although in hindsight I think brunette would have shown up better.

Just For You

Happy Saturday everyone. When is this rain ever going to stop!!! Had a lovely day today cos my #1 Son and Grand-daughter came over. We played, baked cakes, played some more, ate and ate some more. Really lovely but I'm cream crackered now, lol.

Put this easy peasy simple style card together this evening once I was able to get back in my craft room. I didn't make it too fussy as its for a 'bloke' and therefore fits in nicely with this week's Bearly Mine Challenge.
The ABC Challenge is 'N' for Nesties plus a sketch which I've managed to combine with my 'fold' card. Goodness knows what its called and I've adapted it again...

Fab and Funky Challenge #58 is to use Chocolate and Blue so I've coloured the LOTV image with the following copics :
E21, 93 and Promarker in Satin (skin)
E31, 33, 35 (hair)
B93, 95 (shirt)
E21, 27, 29 (shorts)
B93, 97 (shoes)
E04 (parcel)
W1, 3, 5, 7 (shadowing)
Plus loads of blender pen.

The Sentiment is also from LOTV and the DP is from my stash.

I hope you like it and here come the links, x

50 Wonderful Years

Good Evening Peeps from a very wet and blustery West Yorkshire. Oh Boy! It hasn't stopped now for 2 days and I swear I saw some large snowflakes this morning. Still I guess we should be thankful we're not in Queensland with the dreadful weather they've had down there.

This evening's card is one I've made for a special couple who will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary next week. I can't remember where I got the rosebuds stamp from but I love it and was glad of an excuse to ink it up. Easy peasy to colour with just 4 copics: Y21, 26, 28, G21. The stems are longer than shown but I deliberately chopped them off for the purposes of this card. BTW, the sketch is for the Tuesday Morning Sketches and was designed by a 12 year old. Brilliant inspiration and its lovely to see the new talent coming up through the ranks.

The ribbon is actually a pale yellow overlaid with a gold ribbon, from my stash, along with the brads and flowers.

The DP is by 7 Gypsies and is both sides of a double sided sheet.

I'm also entering this into Crafty Cardmakers #38 which is 'Flowers' and Papertake Weekly which is 'Anything Goes + optional extra of flowers.

Hope you like it and the links are below, x

The Button Tree

Just in case you're wondering I didn't get up early to make these cards, I did them yesterday evening.

This is another variation of the 'naked' tree stamp (Judith) that I showed you the other day, this time decorated with buttons. I've used 3 buttons in each of 3 colours - red, pink and orange and mounted it on DP from a 12 x 12 stack by K & Co called 'Que Sera Sera'. Its actually one sheet but using both sides. There are some fabulous colours in this stack, really yummy. Gems and bow from my stash.

Prince Charming

Well maybe not Prince Charming but sometimes in life you have to kiss a lot of frogs, lol.

This is a new stamp (to me) that I bought during my weekend in Scotland, one of many...thanks to my lovely hostess who took me to a stamp shop sale, lol. Its a Penny Black image and I thought he was rather cute especially with the wee heart shaped mouth. I've coloured him with copics G21, 28, Y28 and backed him with DP from Memory Box 'Rhubarb Tart'. The paper swirl at the top right was created by using one of the dies from my new Floral Accent Shapeabilities set which I won in a blog challenge from 7 Kids College Fund.

Brads and Pearls are from my stash and the pine leaves were created with my Martha Stewart punch. Oh, the heart is from a ring I picked up in the sales. I think it was 99p and it's got about 12 different hearts dangling from it....Bargain!

I've used the current Penny Black sketch challenge and I'm also entering it into Fussy and Fancy #29, which is to create a valentine's project without using red or pink, also The Stampsmith Challenge #7 which is royalty, well he is wearing a crown, lol.

The Baby Tree

Just a quickie this evening as I'm battling with a rotten headache that's refusing to shift. However, I needed to get another baby card made and this time I've used my new tree stamp from the weekend. Its by 'Judith' and I also bought some 'peg' stamps at the same time. The idea is that you stamp the bare tree and then decorate it with small images depending on your chosen theme. I guess the Tapestry stamps would work well here. So I stamped the tree in Versafine vintage sepia and then used a pink Tombo pen to ink up the mini images. I've then added some brads and voila!

All the other bits and pieces are from my stash.

I'm entering it in this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge. Hope you like it, x

A heart can be for Christmas, not just for Valentines Day

Okay, so I know its a Christmas card and its only February but I'm trying to keep up with my Christmas challenges and be ahead of the game by the time December arrives....

I've just bought (in a sale) a set of Papermania clear stamps in the Henbury Lane range and realised I had the matching DP at home. How clever was that then!!!

The sentiment by Simple Expressions reads 'Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful'. Isn't that a lovely verse.

I've used my new L-Em punch to punch out the leaves.

The heart I've coloured with my copics. Phew, what a job that was trying to get the colour just how I wanted it. After a lot of colouring and blending and huffing and puffing I finally achieved my colour by using E27, R37, RV29 and a lot of blender pen. The leaves are coloured with YG63, 67.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges, x

It's A Girl

Evening Everyone. Hope you've all had a good day. I've made this card for my hubby's cousin whose son and partner have just had their first baby. A girl called Isadora. What a fab name...

All the cardstock is from my stash as are the 2 ribbons. You can just make out the polka dot to the top ribbon. Flowers are from Samuel Taylor and pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
