About Me

My photo
My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

Caught on CCTV??? and Happy Easter

Well, I can't be certain but it is possible seeing as there was a big notice on one of the gates we climbed saying 24hr CCTV in operation.
Yep, me and hubby in trouble again, lol. I won't tell you where we were for fear of incriminating myself but suffice to say we, plus 2 dogs, got a bit lost on a walk while we were away at the weekend and had to climb over 3 gates/fences/barbed wire with 2 dogs.
Now for those of you who know me you will realise that this was no mean feat seeing as we have a labrador and a lab greyhound cross, but hubby stepped up to the challenge and galliantly lifted the ladies over the obstacles so that we could hot foot it to a public footpath.
So, enough chat, here's the first card this evening. I managed to get a few cards partly assembled while we were away relaxing and then was too tired yesterday to consider blogging so here goes.

This cute image is by Daisy Doodles and was a dream to colour with copics C1, 3, RV000, 34, Y11, 13.
The DP was freebies from ages ago and the floral ribbon I got at the Harrogate Show from Meiflower.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:-

Memories From The Past

Evening Peeps. So who stole Monday??? I promised you a card yesterday and then it was Tuesday. How does that happen???

Anyhow this is not the card I intended, that's still on the drawing board, but this is one that I needed to do for my friend's hubby's 60th next week.

I decided to make a drawer easel card so that I could pop his wee gift and voucher inside. I used the voucher as the template to get the drawer size correct and then built the card around it.

Isn't the little boy a cutie. He is one of the new Sugar Nellie images and its the first time I've put colour to him. I've used copics:
skin - E21, 00, 93
hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
top - YG91, 95
shorts - B32, 34
train - R02, 05, 08

The DP is by Papermania 'Rose Garden'. I've followed the current Sugar Bowl Challenge sketch but didn't go OTT with bling as it is for a man. I can't remember where the metal bellie is from but it says (rather appropriately) 'memories from the past'.

I've used an EK corner punch to give it some variation.
I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges :-

Bear In A Box

OK, so given the problems I had with my last posting lets see if the piccie displays for you all to see this time.
{Not looking hopeful having just checked the draft. You'll need to 'hover' again, lol}
This cute image is a Freebie by the ABC Christmas Challenge people to combine with their sketch for their latest challenge. Such an easy image to colour with copics: E000, 31, 33, 93, R35, 37, YG03, B00.

I've used Kars X-mas Collection DP and some ribbon and adhesve stars from my stash.

Hope you like it and here come the challenge links, x

I am Sailing

OK Bloggers, this is a first for me and I would really appreciate your comments, constructive critisism, advice, whatever. I have drawn the sailing ship... This is from someone who hated art at school and has never been particularly crafty - goodness knows where the cardmaking etc came from, must have fell out of bed one day and bumped my head.  Anyhow, I'm gonna take a chance and enter it into some challenges so that a wider audience gets to see it and therefore more comments for me to act on. All because a friend asked me to make a birthday card with a sailing ship.......

This is not the original drawing. I tried to digitise it but I'm not good with the PC and I just couldn't get a decent image so I went back to the old favourite of tracing it and then rubbing on the back to transfer the image to my CS. Of course then I had a mirror image to play with which caused me all sorts of problems with my left/right co-ordination, lol, but this still leaves me with the original to play around with again.

I used copics in BG01, 05, 13, 93, C1, 3, W1, 3, 5 to colour the image and the sea, and then watercolour pencils for the sky.

The birds are stamped in stazon and I used a Tim Holtz compass mask dabbed with Broken China Distress Ink to keep in with the nautical theme. I used twine to imitate rigging and threaded an old naval button, and ric rak to imitate the waves. The die-cut is a Sissix vine leaves die.

I hope you like it and all comments will be much appreciated.

Here are the challenges :-

Another 50 Years...

Okey Dokey! Here's the second post for the evening and then I'm off downstairs to the TV.

In case you hadn't worked it out this is for another golden wedding being celebrated in our street next week. I've followed the sketch in the Craft Your Days Away Challenge and inserted a tag behind the image which I will write our greetings on the reverse.

The image is a Hero Arts stamp 'watercolour dahlia' which I've masked, stamped in Adirondack mushroom  and then coloured with copics: Y11, 13, 37, G21.

The image to the bottom right is a fab border image (don't know who makes it) which I've paper pieced twice using the same DP as the rest of the card which is by Prima 'sweet fairy'. Both the DP and the curly gardenia 'stop' I got from Crafty Emma's Store.
I hope you like it and the links are below, x

It's that tree again

This time I've kept it very minimalist. Unfortunately the camera didn't like the reflection the silver card was giving off so I had to scan it and the piccie doesn't really do it justice.

I embossed the tree in silver and then used a small clear star stamp in Brilliance blue to stamp around the branches. I finished it off with 2 ribbons, the top one is printed with Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I'm entering this into the current ABC Christmas Challenge and Totally Papercrafts #53 Challenge which are both asking for Clean and Simple.

Hope you like it and the links are below, x

Friendship

This was a really quick card put together with Crafty Indivduals papers that had been lying on my workspace waiting to be made into a tent fold card. When I saw them I realised they fitted perfectly with the current Play Date Cafe Colour Challenge.

I've left the card fairly plain and without embellishments so that I can also enter it into the current Charisma Cardz challenge, and finally Totally Papercrafts were asking for a 'Friendship' card.

The cute Elisabeth Bell image is coloured with copics :-
skin : E21, 93 and Promarker Satin
hair : E50, 51, 53, 31
clothes : V01, 01
This was my first attempt at really blonde hair although in hindsight I think brunette would have shown up better.

I hope you like it and the challenge links are below, x
