About Me

My photo
My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

Christmas at Easter

Evening Peeps. Just wanted to get this evening's card uploaded before the computer decides to bed down for the night, lol.

I'm back to my Christmas cards and this time I've used the 'Spotlight' or 'Hotspot' technique to fit in with the current ABC Christmas Challenge. The image, sentiment and papers are all Henbury Lane by Papermania. I stamped the image twice, cutting out the full image with a nesties scalloped circle. Then using a smaller circle I cut out a part of the main image and coloured it with copics in RV34, YG63, 67. Finally I edged both circles in black.

The curly gardenia (not very Christmassy but the colour matched) is from Crafty Emma's Store and the leaves I've punched using a Martha Stewart border punch. The pearls are from The Hobby House.

Hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

On top of the world

Evening Peeps. What another beautiful day here in West Yorkshire. Got the washing pegged out, got it dry and then the line broke!!! So its all back in the wash tomorrow:(((
That'll teach me to do domestic stuff instead of crafting.

Anyway, here's one I made earlier, well yesterday to be precise but the computer has been having a 'slow' day today so its only just decided to let me upload it.

The cute digi image is by Designed2Delight called 'Ladybug Balancing Act', and I've coloured with copics:-
R00, 02, 24, G21, 28, C5, 7
I distressed the background with Antique Linen to take the starkness off, and added a large pearl brad to the flower which I got from the Meiflower stand at the Harrogate Show.

The scrummy DP is from a Webster's Pages pack which I got from the brill Crafty Emma's Store.

The circles are cut with scalloped nesties and the 'flag' shapes are from my new Spellbinders shapeabilities 'pennant' set. The top sentiment is by LOTV.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

A Daughter's Wedding Day

This is the second card for this evening and then I'm off to bed.

I've made this card for the parents of the bride to send congratulations on their daughter's wedding. I started making cards in this vein a few years ago for parents of children on their wedding days and find they are always much appreciated.

This is a silhouette stamp by Kaycee which I've had a while and is so versatile. I've used it for many different types of cards. I've edged the white layer and the flowers in her hair with copic B60. The white flowers with pearls are from Crafty Emma's Store.

The dies are by Go Kreate available from Samuel Taylor.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

A watering can full of blooms

Evening Peeps. Well, its been another one of those evenings. I think my computer sees the word 'blog' and goes into meltdown. Anyhow, I'm up and running again now and here is this evening's offering.

This beautiful digi image is by the Designed 2 Delight people and it could be really versatile depending on the colours you use. I've used my old faithful, copics, although I didn't keep a record of the colours duh!

The DP is by Prima 'Fairy Flora' which I got from Crafty Emma's Store, and the curly gardenia is from here too.

The adhesive pearls are from The Hobby House.

I hope you like it and I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

Amy

Well, here it is, my last card for a few days. Tomorrow I have an interview in Salford and then I'm off to Stratford Upon Avon for a few days with a friend to have some girlie chill out time.

This cute image is called Amy and she is a freebie from Crafty Sentiments Designs for use in their current challenge. She was easy to colour with my copics although some of my shading could have been better. Copics used:
skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
shoes - E31, 33
top - BV00, 02, 02
jeans - B93, 95

The DP is Papermania 'Henbury Lane' and the sentiment is one of my new LOTV.
The curly gardenia are from Crafty Emma's Store as are the pearls. The small rose buds are from my stash and the leaves are my MS border punch.

I hope you like it and I'll see you all again at the weekend, x

Easy Peasy Christmas Card

Yep! Another Christmas Card, this time a really quick one to do. That's once you've come up with the idea, lol.

Simply Less Is More challenge this week is a sketch but using a tall, thin card ie DL. Mine is a smaller version. Then the Creative Card Crew wanted no stamps used......that wasn't such an easy task. Finally Winter Wonderland are asking for baubles.

The bauble is cut with a nestie from a Crafty Individual's pre-printed image, the DP is Memory Box 'mistletoe' from Crafty Emma's Store, and the ribbon is from my stash.

Simple but effective, some would say that sounds just like me, lol.

Here come the links, x

Double Twisted Easel Card

OMG. I can't believe how much quicker this Google Chrome is as a browser. I hope it lasts.

This is my first attempt at a double twisted easel card. I started playing around with it at Padgate Crafters a few weeks ago and because I'm going away for a few days I thought I better tidy up a few loose ends ie finish some half started projects, lol.

I thought the colours were perfect for a spring card and I've used part of a LOTV sentiment 'to a special person on a special day' to tailor it towards Mother's Day. I've mounted the sentiment on my new 'pennant' nesties. I cut 2 and then joined them to make a diamond shape. I then matted onto darker card. I then did the same with the DP that I printed my sentiment on. Finally I raised it onto 3d pads to create the stop.
 Elisabeth Bell's 'Sweet Ebony' was coloured with copics: E21, 93, promarker satin (skin), E31, 33 (hair), R00, 02, 05, YR04, 07, 02, 00, E49, 41, Y28, 26, 21, YG63, 67.

I've pleated a ribbon under the flower and added a feather.
The frame and text insert are part of a framey set by Art Warehouse. It is a brill clear polymer set as there are various diamond frames and solid inserts but they are all individual so you can mix and match.

The DP is Basic Grey 'Porcelain'. Pearls from the Hobby House, roses from Crafty Emma's Store and pearly brads from Meiflower. The leaf spray is a MS border trim punch.

I hope you like it and here are the challenges I'd like to enter it into, x

Showering You With Flowers

Afternoon Peeps, not so warm today eh? I was working until lunchtime and didn't really notice the drop in temperature but now I'm huddled next to the radiator while I'm on my blog.

I love this hedgehog image by Tina Wenke for Stampavie. Hubby and I have a 'thing' for hedgehogs and often buy little collectables when we're on our travels. I've had the stamp for ages and just not got around to using it, so this was the perfect excuse. I created the sentiment on the computer, quite liked the font.

I've coloured Mrs. Hedgehog in copics: E000, 31, 33, 93, R20, 32, Y06, YG00, 03, BG10.

The curly gardenia, rosebuds, pearls and stamens are all from Crafty Emma's Store and the vine leaf punch is a Martha Stewart border trim.

The DP is Prima 'Sweet Fairy', also from Crafty Emma's Store. In fact, go check out the store this weekend as she has a sale on. See the link on my sidebar.

The ribbon was some recycled from a parcel and has been in my stash for an age. Just ran my little portable iron over it to rid it of creases. After all, isn't that what iron's are for - crafting, lol.

I hope you like it and I'd like to enter it into the challenges below.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope to be back with another production later, x

O Christmas Tree

Evening Peeps, another Christmas card for the box. This time I've kept it simple by using the Cuttlebug 'lace tree' embossing folder on mirri card. Now! I'm entering this into the Bah Humbug challenge which was to use metallic and in my simple mind that meant mirri card...whether its cos its shiny and to me that meant metallic, I dunno...anyhow as a back up I popped a metallic brad in the top corner, lol. I've also popped some red gems on the tree.

The DP is Basic Grey 'jovial' from Crafty Emma's Store.

Going to the Chapel...

Evening Peeps. A friend text yesterday asking how quick could I make her a wedding card??? There was me thinking it must be a 'shot-gun' wedding, but no, she'd just thought it would be a nice idea to have a hand crafted card to go alongside her hand crafted ring cushion.

I've used a Digi Doodles image and coloured with copics:-
skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
her hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
his hair - E31, 33, 35
suit and shoes - C3, 5, 8
flowers and ribbon - G21, V01, 05, 12

All the CS is from my stash and I've embossed round the edges of the lilac card with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

The curly gardenia are from Crafty Emma's Store, the others are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Anyhow, I've just seen that Digi Doodles next challenge is anything goes so I'm off to enter this there. Also Dream Valley challenge is 'new beginnings' so I'll enter it there too.

You're an Angel

Here's my second post for the evening. This digi image is Angel Caroline by Designed 2 Delight. Isn't she cute. I've used my copics to colour:
skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
clothes and wings - G000, 00, 02, 03

The DP is by Prima 'Fairy Flora' from Crafty Emma's Store.

The little flowers I have had for an absolute age, I think they were probably once part of a larger flower that I dissected, lol. Can't remember where the sentiment is from, but rather appropriate for this card.

Girls Rock

Here's the final one for this evening folks, using a Whiff of Joy image 'Willow Dancing'. She's really shaking her stuff on the dance floor.

Surprise, surprise, I've coloured her with copics:-

skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
hair - E50, 51, 53, 31
clothes etc - Y11, 13, 17, YR02, 04, 07

The DP is by memory box 'glitterati' from Crafty Emma's Store.

I can't remember where the sentiment is from but thought it fitted the bill.

Back again, this time in the break from the ice-skating to upload a further two cards from the weekend.

This one is using a cute image from digi delights. This could easily be Casey, my Grand-daughter, with her cheeky smile. I've used copics to colour:
skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
hair - E31, 33, 35
egg and clothes - Y11, 13, R20, 22, B00, 02

The DP is Prima 'sweet fairy'

Its been snowing again...

Well it was for all of 5 minutes this morning. So much for Spring being on its way. Anyway to stay in keeping with the weather I've incorporated snowflakes in this next addition to my Christmas box. I've rotated the current sketch from Sketch Saturday and used DP by Basic Grey 'jovial' which you can get from Crafty Emma's Store. The base DP has been embossed with the cuttlebug Lace Tree folder and then I've rubbed a metallic rub-on to enhance the design.

Tilda and Edwin have been coloured with copics as follows:-
skin - E21, 93, promarker satin
hair (his) - E31, 33, 35
hair (hers) - E50, 51 53, 31
jeans - C3, 5, 7
jumper and hat - BG13, 15
her clothes - V12, 15, 17

I've added some rainbow stripe glitter to her cuffs and hem.

The pearls, peeloffs, glitter snowflakes, and sentiment are all from my stash.

Hope you like it and here are the challenge links, x

Another 50 Years...

Okey Dokey! Here's the second post for the evening and then I'm off downstairs to the TV.

In case you hadn't worked it out this is for another golden wedding being celebrated in our street next week. I've followed the sketch in the Craft Your Days Away Challenge and inserted a tag behind the image which I will write our greetings on the reverse.

The image is a Hero Arts stamp 'watercolour dahlia' which I've masked, stamped in Adirondack mushroom  and then coloured with copics: Y11, 13, 37, G21.

The image to the bottom right is a fab border image (don't know who makes it) which I've paper pieced twice using the same DP as the rest of the card which is by Prima 'sweet fairy'. Both the DP and the curly gardenia 'stop' I got from Crafty Emma's Store.

Puff, The Magic Dragon...

Happy Friday everyone. The weekend is here, well almost.

I've been dying to use this fab digi image from Digi Delights and when I saw there were some challenges this week asking for fantasy, mythical, wings, etc I thought what a brilliant time to showcase him. He was so easy to colour too with only a handful of the old favourites required. Copics used: YG00, 03, 06, RV21, 23.

The papers are my MME 'wild asparagus' as is the ribbon, which I got from Crafty Emma's Store.

The ribbon brad is from my stash. I've had it for an absolute age and have no idea where I got it from. These brads seem to get forgotten.

Anyhow, I hope you like the card and I'm entering it in the following challenges, x

A Gift For You

Good Evening everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. Sorry I've been MIA for the last couple of days but I was out all day Sunday crafting. Had a brill time but didn't get much done, too much chatting, lol. Then yesterday just seemed to disappear.

Anyhow, I'm back this evening with a little gift bag I've made for a friend's birthday. I covered a 'snack' box with paper from K & Co 'Que Sera Sera', and edged with broderie anglais and lace. The tag has been coloured with Brilliance and stamped in Adirondack 'currant' using a swirl from Creative Expressions and the frame from Viva Decor. The curly gardenia is from Crafty Emma's Store.
The handle was made using floristry ribbon. By pulling the wires I was able to scrunch the ribbon giving the handle stability.
Of course, the obligatory Tildas were coloured with copics:
E21, 31, 33, 35, 93
G21, R00, 02
Promarkers - Satin, Antique Pink, Dusky Rose, Maroon.

65 years young

Howza bout that then!!! I'm still awake despite being up since goodness knows when. Well the snow eventually stopped falling at about lunchtime and it means we have about 4" now:((( The sky still looks full so I hope there isn't any more to come.

Anyhow, its given me some crafting time to make a card requested by a friend. I thought I'd go for the ever effective easel card as its for a special birthday.

The image is by Simple Expressions and I've stamped it in versafine vintage sepia. Told you I was a bit addicted to that ink pad at the moment, lol.
The DP are MME 'Wild Asparagus' as is the peachy ribbon. This ribbon, the curly gardenia (just lurve them) and the carnation buds are all from Crafty Emma's Store. The pearls are from The Hobby House.

I've created the leaves with my Martha Stewart pine punch. Everything else is from my stash.

Vintage Beauty

Evening Peeps. I don't about you but it's turned blooming freezing here in West Yorkshire, hope it doesn't mean that there's more snow on the way.

Anyhow, it's a good excuse to stay in the warm crafting and this is the little creation I've made this afternoon.

I've stamped the 'vintage' lady in Versafine vintage sepia onto cream CS. I'm sorry but the image was a gift and I'm not sure who makes it. I have a few like this and they are all beautiful images. I've used my nesties to frame her.

The main DP is from my stash but I've run it through the Cuttlebug 'D'Vine Swirl' embossing plate before mounting it onto my CS.

The vellum (from my stash) has gold script on it. The plaid ribbon is by 'Portafolia' and the cream ribbon is from my stash.

Pearls from The Hobby House and the curly gardenia from Crafty Emma's Store (see my sidebar).

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges :-

Hopes, Dreams and Fantasy

Evening everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Wasn't the weather awful yesterday! Anyhow, a bit of sunshine today and everything seems so much better.

I've been playing about recently with 'map-fold' cards and this one is made using 12 x 12" cardstock. However, I have adapted one to fit on an A4 piece of card, more of that another time. My original inspiration came from a tutorial on the Whiff of Joy site. They are full of brilliant tutorials so go take a peek and learn some new skills.

So onto my card. The top picture is the front as the card is closed. I've used the current Truly Scrumptious sketch to base my design on. The doorway is from Lavinia Stamps and I've used copics to give it some colour : E40, 41, 43 and RV02 with blender. The curly gardenia flower is from Crafty Emma's Store as are the wonderful DP from a Prima pack called 'Sweet Fairy'.

This next piccie is the inside, again I've followed the Truly Scrumptious sketch for the middle section. The image is Sweet Pea, Blue Eye Fairy and I've coloured her with copics: E21, 93 Promarker Satin (skin), E50, 51, 53, 43 (hair), B02 (eyes) RV02, 06, Promarker Maroon (flowers and gems), BV02, 04 (choker and dress). I placed some skeleton leaves behind to represent her wings.
This is a close up of the lovely verse I've included. Can't remember where I got it from but I really like it.
For the purpose of this next piccie I've laid the card on its back cos when it is stood upright the centre panel automatically flops down.
So as it is now, the top panel is the reverse of the middle section with the Sweet Pea fairy on. I've edged it with a mini fairy from Crafty Indivudals, and flower sprig by Bo Bunny.
Apologies but another verse that I can't remember its origin.

I'm entering this into the following  challenges:-
